So, this was one of the first posts I made here. There were a couple spots on a few pages that I wasn’t able to manage. A while back, Nitroxknight left a comment to let me know they finished those pages. So, I figured I’d make a new post with some download links for the archive.

I’m out of the game, so I’m not even going to bother adding an info page. However, I would like to thank Nitroxknight here for finishing this – I think this little comic has a very good little story to it and I’m glad it can now be called a finished product.

Small bubbles are the bane of my existence. No issues with the majority, but then at some point the quality dropped off and there was a lot of pixellation. So, I did what I could with it.

There was a lot to do with this one. I did some redrawing under the transparent bubbles, and I think it came out pretty good if I say so myself. Some of the text boxes were tiny and so the font matches, unfortunately. Even with the transparent portions, I found the most annoying part to be Reisen’s page because of the color gradient, required a lot of time to get it right.

Nothing big on this one, all of the speech bubbles were white and the translation read very fluidly in English. So, it just required cleaning out the bubbles and typesetting.

I know the comic title is “Patchy …” on Danbooru, but I have always preferred “Patchi” as the spelling of her nickname because its like a contraction of her full name and makes more sense to me. Just a little change I made due to personal preference. Besides,  translators flip between “Patchy” and “Patche”, anyway.

I had a bit of difficulty rewording the bit about the red carpet from the second panel on the first page (shown above). I actually had to pull out a pen and paper and kept rewriting it until I felt it flowed better. The translation on Danbooru was very wordy and the flow in English was pretty horrendous. So, I took a little liberty and reworded it to what I think was better. I’m still not entirely happy with it, but I felt that was the best I could do without being able to translate it from Japanese on my own and editing from there. If you feel I cut too much or if my English-to-English translation just plain sucked, feel free to let me know!

Translation

The vast majority of this one (practically every history entry) was translated by Danbooru user Sillily. There were also a few entries from Bansho in the history.

 

Just as an aside, are there any specific upload sites that downloaders prefer besides these 2? As a downloader myself, I love MediaFire and Fileserve isn’t too bad. I’m not looking for a rewards program or anything, so I’ll upload pretty much anywhere as long as there’s enough demand and they aren’t notorious for deleting files (I know MediaFire has issues in this area, but I think the benefits outweigh this problem by a good margin).

Editing/Typesetting

My first completed edit/typeset! I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. The drawings were very linear in that there wasn’t much color variation, which made it easy to remove a lot of the Japanese sound effects and replace them with the translation. There were a few places where I felt the translation could have been worded differently, to flow better in English (in my opinion, anyway), so I reworded a couple lines.

I’m pretty happy with the results, but if I missed something or fucked up in some way, feel free to let me know. Criticism is just another way to grow.
